 Vintage Alice Rae Earrings My great-aunt Alice Rae died a few weeks ago, but her lifetime of kindnesses is still alive. She never found her own true love, but gave true love freely. I once read from her journal about her own feelings of inadequacy, her struggle with weight issues and self-esteem. She championed the individual, the underdog, and made everyone in her reach feel like they were worth the world. A bit of a paradox, no? Sweet Alice Rae wouldn't pick these earrings out for herself. She'd choose something less assuming, not so glitzy. So what does this story have to do with these earrings? I'd love to see Alice Rae wearing them with pride, mixed with her sweet humility. She gave the world, and deserves it back ten-fold. Vintage Czech glass stones set in 14K gold-plated brass, with gold-plated leverback earwires. Stone measures 18x13mm. |
